Quit Smoking: Easy or Hard?

Is quitting smoking hard or easy?

Some people say that after they realized the negative impact of smoking on their own health and that of others, they resolved to quit smoking and were able to do so easily.

Some indicate that they wanted to quit smoking and had tried several times but ended up smoking again due to various reasons.

The remaining majority state that to preserve their health and their family's health, they tried to quit once before but the shock to their system was so severe that they had to resume smoking.

After decades as a practitioner and teacher of Eastern medicine, I've had the chance to interact with many smokers and shared with them some of my knowledge as well as techniques to quit smoking with relative ease.

For those who sincerely want to quit smoking, I'd like to offer some ideas:

For all of us, the blood contains sugar and salt components, so our diet needs to include sugar and salt. We will crave sugar and salt if we're lacking them.

As for smokers, their blood additionally contains nicotine, an addictive chemical compound from cigarettes. It is natural that smokers will crave nicotine if they stop going for that smoke.

If they are determined to quit smoking and go cold turkey, their body and mind can get shocked and messed up.

To avoid shocks to the system, there's a way to quit smoking more gently and comfortably.

First off, we need to be unwavering and patient during the process of saying no to cigarettes.

If we smoke 10 cigarettes a day, for example, begin to cut down just 1 cigarette every day and smoke 9 daily for 3 consecutive days.

Drink more water to dilute cigarettes' toxic chemicals in the blood and boost elimination.

Buy several packs of chewing gum in advance and chew whenever needed to reduce the "empty" sensation in the mouth for not having a cigarette.

Keep busy with healthy habits like exercising diligently every day.

Cut down 1 more cigarette in the next 3 days, smoking 8 a day.

Continue to cut down 1 cigarette each day for 3 days, until there's only 1, then ½, ¼, ⅛ cigarette...

The nicotine in our blood has gradually decreased until it's there no longer.

And we won't have the intense craving for smoking anymore!

With hope in my heart, I'd be so glad when you can quit smoking easily and successfully.
