About my composition of this song...
Have you ever been lived apart from society against your wishes?
I'd gone through this experience, the utter loneliness was overwhelming. I had no choice but to let my mind wander back to memory lanes; in particular there was one rainy evening in my youth when I was taking a stroll with my sweetheart.
She was petite and pretty, her eyelashes long, her skin fair and glowing. She was sweet and gentle, beside her my heart fluttered more than a bit.
My happiness was short-lived for it was wartime and I was transferred to a distant town.
Central Vietnam at the time was gloomy, the torrential rain there could sink many a heart. I still thought about her and longed for her.
My sweetheart stayed back in the warmth and sunshine of Saigon. She began to love somebody else.
I could never blame her. She did what she thought was right. But, of course, I was sad. Perhaps it was my fault that I went away and didn't stay by her side? Perhaps we were not meant to be.
Nonetheless, at least more than once in my life, I'd taken a "rainy evening stroll" with a girl I loved...
I hope you enjoy the music written from my heart.
